What is reflexology?
Reflexology is one of the most powerful non-invasive health treatments you can experience. This ancient technique operates on the principle that reflexes in the feet or hands correspond to organs, nerves, muscles, and joints in the entire body. Registered and recognised practitioners like me work to stimulate these areas and produce a direct response by applying compression and a form of massage to the appropriate area in the hand or foot.
How does it work?
If you come to me suffering from headaches, for example, as part of your full treatment I will pay particular attention to the head reflex in the big toe to stimulate your own body’s healing processes to alleviate your headaches. You will enjoy this therapeutic treatment on your feet and go home feeling relaxed.
A single treatment works as a great pick-me-up, but long-standing problems might require up to six or even eight sessions. We will agree on the length of your course of treatment, depending on your individual needs. Then, once your body has regained its equilibrium, an occasional treatment will stimulate your immune system and maintain well-being.
What does reflexology target?
Reflexology is aimed at correcting the three negative factors associated with the disease process:
- Improves circulation and stimulates your own healing system to maintain well-being
- Breaks down tension and alleviates stress
- Brings all the organs and structures of the body into balance
- Assists in the elimination of waste products from the liver, kidney, and bowel
- Controls the perception of pain
